A "solar aircon" in Philippine ads usually means a hybrid AC/DC split unit: dedicated panels feed the outdoor unit as DC by day, and the grid fills in when the sun drops. It is not the same as running a normal inverter aircon from a rooftop solar system. On 14 October 2026, a Philippine dealer listed a 12,000 BTU (about 1.5 HP) hybrid solar aircon at ₱59,000 and an 18,000 BTU unit at ₱67,100, both without panels or install. A Lazada listing for a Deye 2 HP hybrid was ₱60,000. A regular 1.5 HP Midea inverter split on the brand's official store was ₱41,855. Panels, mounting and labour are extra on every path.
This post is a product-type comparison only. For how many panels a normal inverter aircon needs, what it costs at BILECO rates, and how night-time aircon works with net metering or a battery, use our solar for aircon guide. We do not repeat that sizing math here.
Unit prices below are from Philippine seller pages and Lazada, checked 14 October 2026. Datasheet figures are from the makers (Deye hybrid AC/DC page and datasheet PDF). Panel price bands come from our October 2026 panel price posts. Every combined cost is a Solar Leyte calculation and excludes installation unless we say otherwise. Nothing here is a MACC installed price or quote.
Three different products people call "solar aircon"
Type | What powers the compressor | Needs a house inverter? | Works at night / brownout? | Panels are for… |
|---|---|---|---|---|
A. Pure DC / 48 V solar aircon | DC only (often ~48 V), from panels and usually a battery bank | No (no AC inverter for the aircon) | Only if you size batteries for the hours you need | That one aircon (plus its battery charger) |
B. Hybrid AC/DC solar aircon | DC from a dedicated PV string and/or 208–240 V AC from the grid; unit mixes them | No separate solar inverter for the aircon | Night: yes, on the grid. Brownout: no, unless you add a separate backup | That one aircon only |
C. Regular inverter aircon on rooftop solar | Normal 230 V AC from a grid-tie or hybrid house system | Yes (grid-tie or hybrid inverter) | Night: grid or net-metering credits; brownout: only with a hybrid + battery | The whole house (aircon, ref, lights, fans) |
Type B is what most Philippine "solar aircon" ads sell. Type A (true off-grid DC48V) shows up in exporter catalogues; we did not find a current, clear Philippine retail price for a named DC48V model on 14 October 2026, so treat any local quote as a special order and ask for the datasheet. Type C is the path covered in solar for aircon and in our grid-tie vs hybrid guide.

How a hybrid AC/DC solar aircon actually works
Deye's Hybrid AC/DC solar air conditioner (models such as DGA2-ACDCBLW-12K / 18K / 24K) is a useful datasheet example because the maker publishes the numbers:
Spec (Deye datasheet) | 12K (~1–1.5 HP class) | 18K | 24K |
|---|---|---|---|
AC supply | 1Ph 208–240 V, 50–60 Hz | same | same |
PV input (series string) | 80–380 V DC, ≤10 A | same | same |
Advised panels | (3–4) × 330 W in series | (3–6) × 330 W | (3–8) × 330 W |
Rated cooling power input (T1) | 940 W (190–1,270) | 1,400 W | 1,790 W |
Rated cooling power input (T3 hot climate) | 1,050 W | 1,630 W | 1,940 W |
AC power limiter | up to about 600 W from the grid while DC is available (maker claim) | same idea | same idea |
Sources: Deye product page and the Hybrid AC/DC datasheet PDF (same table). The design points to remember:
- The panels plug into the outdoor unit, not into a house solar inverter. No charge controller or battery is required for daytime hybrid operation (Deye: "No inverter, no battery, no charge controller required").
- On a sunny day the unit can run mostly or fully on PV. When PV falls short, it blends grid AC. At night it is a normal grid aircon.
- Those panels do not export to BILECO or LEYECO. There is no net-metering credit from the aircon's dedicated string. Surplus from a separate rooftop system is a different setup (BILECO net metering, LEYECO II net metering).
- A brownout kills the AC path unless you have another backup. The hybrid aircon is not a substitute for a hybrid inverter + battery.
Philippine dealers such as NuPON Solar describe the same daytime-solar / grid-blend behaviour and sell packages that bundle panels with 1.5 / 2 / 3 HP units. They do not publish a peso tag on that page, so we do not invent one.

Hybrid AC/DC units (aircon only — panels and install not included)
Listing | Capacity (as stated) | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Enovatek Sys-1 EES-X-ACDC-1201 (eeair.com.ph) | 12,000 BTU / 1 ton / 1.5 HP | ₱59,000 | 1-year parts/system, 10-year compressor; local PH delivery; excludes panels and installation |
Enovatek Sys-1 EES-X-ACDC-1801 | 18,000 BTU (dealer pages also label 2 HP) | ₱67,100 | Same warranty and exclusions |
Lazada PH — "Deye 2HP Hybrid AC/DC Solar Air Conditioner" | 18,000 BTU / 2 HP (listing text) | ₱60,000 | Marketplace listing; confirm model number, warranty and what's in the box before paying |
Enovatek EEP-X-ACDC-0901 (9,000 BTU / 1 HP) | 9,000 BTU / 1 HP | ₱1,000 listed (was ₱49,900) | The ₱1,000 sale price looks like a placeholder. Do not budget ₱1,000. Re-confirm in writing; we leave it out of the cost math below |

Regular inverter aircons (for the comparison path)
From Midea Philippines' official Shopify store on 14 October 2026:
Model | Sale / list price |
|---|---|
Midea 1.0 HP Airstill inverter split | ₱38,215 (list ₱41,995) |
Midea 1.5 HP Airstill inverter split | ₱41,855 (list ₱45,995) |
Midea Wonder AC 2.0 HP | ₱44,998 |
These are ordinary 230 V inverter splits. They do not take a PV string. To run them on solar you need a house system (solar for aircon).
What the dedicated panels add (Solar Leyte calculation)
Deye advises about 3–4 × 330 W (roughly 1.0–1.3 kWp) for the 12K hybrid. Using Philippine panel list prices from our 550–620 W price post (8 Oct 2026: about ₱4,200–₱8,500 per panel):
Build (unit + panels only) | Rough parts total |
|---|---|
Enovatek 1.5 HP hybrid (₱59,000) + 4 × 550 W at ₱4,200 | ₱75,800 |
Same unit + 4 × 620 W at ₱5,000 | ₱79,000 |
Regular Midea 1.5 HP (₱41,855) + 3 × 620 W at ₱5,000 (panels sized to monthly aircon kWh in our aircon post, not a full house system) | ₱56,855 |

Read those carefully. The hybrid-aircon row is a self-contained cooling kit (aircon + its own panels). The regular-aircon row is only the aircon plus three panels' list prices — it still needs a grid-tie or hybrid inverter, mounting, protection and labour, and those three panels are usually part of a larger roof array that also runs the fridge and lights. A fair whole-house comparison often lands in the same "tens of thousands to low hundreds of thousands" band as a small grid-tie system; see our 5 kW system price post for itemised parts. Installation is not included in any row above.
Some marketing sites quote hybrid solar aircon package ranges around ₱75,000–₱85,000 installed. We cite those only as second-hand marketing figures, not as checked invoices. Insist on an itemised quote: unit, panels, mounting, copper, labour, warranty.
Side-by-side: what you actually buy
Question | Hybrid AC/DC solar aircon | Regular inverter aircon + rooftop solar |
|---|---|---|
Daytime aircon bill | Can drop close to zero on the aircon's own meter while PV covers the compressor (maker claim; weather and sizing matter) | Aircon draws from house solar first; surplus can earn net-metering credits |
Other loads (ref, lights, fans, Wi-Fi) | Not powered by the aircon's panels | Yes — same array |
Night aircon | Grid power (like a normal unit) | Grid, or credits, or a battery on a hybrid inverter |
Brownout | Unit stops when AC grid is gone | Grid-tie stops too; hybrid inverter + battery can keep a backup circuit on |
Service / parts | Fewer techs know PV-ready outdoor boards; confirm PH warranty centre | Standard aircon tech + standard solar installer |
Best fit | One hard-running daytime room (home office, shop) where you do not want a full roof system | Whole-house bill cut, night aircon strategy, and brownout planning |
GoSolar PH's July 2026 guide makes the same flexibility point we emphasise here: dedicated panels on a solar aircon are locked to that one unit, while rooftop solar serves the house.
When a hybrid solar aircon can still make sense
- You mainly cool one room in daylight (WFH, clinic waiting area, sari-sari counter) and do not want to design a full roof system yet.
- Roof space for a whole-house array is limited, but you can fit three to six panels near that outdoor unit with a clean series string inside the 80–380 V window.
- You accept that night and brownout behaviour is "normal grid aircon," and you will solve backup separately if you need it (Visayas grid alerts).
When rooftop solar + a regular inverter aircon is the better buy
- Your bill is high because of aircon plus the rest of the house.
- You want net metering or a path to a battery for evening aircon.
- You care about serviceability in Leyte and Biliran: ordinary splits and common hybrid inverters (Deye, SRNE, Sungrow) are easier to support than a niche PV-ready outdoor board.
- You may add a second aircon later — house solar scales; a per-unit solar aircon means another dedicated string.
Order of spend we still like (unchanged from the aircon post): (1) switch any non-inverter aircon to a proper inverter unit, (2) put solar on the roof for daytime loads, (3) add battery only if you need night aircon through brownouts. A hybrid solar aircon skips step 2's flexibility; buy it only when that trade-off is intentional.
Buyer checklist for any "solar aircon" quote
- Name the type: pure DC48V, hybrid AC/DC, or "we will just put panels on a normal inverter" (that last one is Type C — price the solar separately).
- Get the model number and the PV voltage/current window in writing (example: 80–380 V, ≤10 A).
- Itemise unit / panels / mounting / copper / labour / warranty years (parts vs compressor).
- Ask who services the outdoor board in Eastern Visayas, and whether a normal aircon tech can recharge refrigerant without voiding the PV side.
- Do not count on brownout cooling from a hybrid AC/DC unit alone.
- Compare the itemised total with a regular inverter aircon plus a share of a house solar quote (how many panels, 5 kW price).
FAQ
What is a solar aircon? In Philippine marketing it usually means a hybrid AC/DC split-type air conditioner that accepts a dedicated solar-panel string as DC and blends grid AC when needed. It is different from a normal inverter aircon powered by a rooftop solar system.
How much is a solar aircon in the Philippines? On 14 October 2026, Enovatek listed a 1.5 HP / 12k hybrid at ₱59,000 and an 18k unit at ₱67,100 (no panels). A Lazada Deye 2 HP hybrid listing was ₱60,000. Add roughly ₱17,000–₱34,000 for 3–4 panels at recent PH list prices (Solar Leyte calculation), plus install.
Do I still need a solar inverter? Not for a true hybrid AC/DC aircon's dedicated panels — the outdoor unit takes PV DC directly. You still need a house inverter if you also want rooftop solar for other loads.
Will it run during a BILECO or LEYECO brownout? The hybrid AC/DC unit needs grid AC when PV is not enough, and has no battery in the standard setup. For brownout aircon you want a hybrid inverter and battery, sized with the method in solar for aircon.
Is a DC48V off-grid solar aircon available here? The product type exists (panels + battery, no grid). We did not verify a current Philippine shelf price for a named DC48V model on 14 October 2026. If someone quotes one, demand the datasheet (voltage, watts, battery Ah) and a local warranty.
Can MACC supply or install solar aircons? Solar Leyte is published by MACC Systems & Energy Solutions Inc., a solar installer in Naval, Biliran. Use the quote box for a site-specific discussion. This post does not list MACC aircon prices, package deals or licences beyond that disclosure.
